The league is worth more than a hundred billion dollars.
The National Football League season starts on September 9th and the league is printing money. Each one of its 32 franchises is worth more than seven billion dollars. Sportico put out a financial valuation of each of the league’s teams although a franchise is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Sportico had Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys business at the top of the list claiming Jones’ franchise is worth $15.5 billion. The Inglewood, California-based Los Angeles Rams business is second at $12.7 billion.
The East Rutherford, New Jersey-based New York Giants franchise is third at $12 billion. Tim Mara founded the Giants franchise in 1925 and paid $500 for the franchise, which today would be slightly less than $9,000. Robert Kraft’s Foxboro, Massachusetts-based New England Patriots franchise is valued at $10.4 billion dollars. In fifth place, Woody Johnson’s New York Jets franchise is worth $10.35 billion. The Philadelphia Eagles franchise is sixth at 10.3 billion. At number seven is Stephen Ross’s Miami Dolphins business worth $10.25 billion followed by the Santa Clara, California-based San Francisco 49ers franchise which has been assessed at $10.21 billion. The Las Vegas Raiders franchise holds the number nine spot at $10.1 billion. The Atlanta Falcons business rounds out the top 10 coming in at $9.78 billion. The estate of Paul G. Allen agreed to sell the Seattle Seahawks business to an ownership group led by the Khosla family for $9.6 billion. The publicly owned Green Bay Packers are ranked 22nd out of the 32 franchises. The Green Bay Packers Board of Directors announced it had an operating loss of $1.1 million during the 2025 season. NFL teams losing money is a rarity. At number 32, Mike Brown’s Cincinnati Bengals business is worth $7.3 billion.
