LSU Travels To Ole Miss For A Football Game

LSU is still in the SEC despite being threatened with expulsion.

The University of Mississippi will play Louisiana State University in a Southeastern Conference football game this weekend. And to think, just a few days ago, the Lords of the SEC Gridiron were allegedly on the verge of tossing LSU out of their little fiefdom because LSU signed two NFL training camp castoffs who still had one year of college football eligibility. The players didn’t play in any LSU games and that was the end of it. Of course it was all bluster because deep down the poohbahs of college football’s Southeastern Conference knew if they tried to evict Louisiana State University from the fiefdom lawsuits would be quickly filed and the lawyers would have plenty of billable hours. The SEC cannot afford the lawsuits because the conference, college football and the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s secrets would become public. That is something that school presidents, chancellors and trustees along with athletic departments and, if a particular SEC school happens to be a public institute, some government officials don’t want. Still the SEC wants to do something to punish LSU or the coach Lane Kiffin. The SEC got creative though, saying its first amendment right was violated because it didn’t want to associate with LSU as a legal strategy.

Besides, for the hype of the game it is far better to talk about Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford, Mississippi as a villain for this matchup. Kiffin bolted the University of Mississippi program on November 30^th, 2025 to take the LSU head coaching job. Kiffin has six years remaining on his University of Mississippi contract as head coach.  The University of Mississippi would not let him finish out the championship bowl season run. Kiffin bolting a college program for another school is not unusual as coaches have routinely broken contracts. It is just part of college sports.
