St. John’s baseball third baseman Jayder Raifstanger was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
The sophomore unloaded a .636/.714/1.091 slash line with six RBIs, seven hits, two doubles and a home run against Louisville last weekend.
In the first game of the Red Storm’s weekend series, Raifstanger went 2-for-4 at the plate on Friday, registering a home run, a single and two RBIs. The standout followed it up with a career 3-for-4 day at the dish, setting new bests of three RBIs and two doubles, en route to the Red Storm’s 13-7 victory over the Cardinals. The infielder closed out the weekend by improving his team-best on-base streak to nine games, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
On the season, the Great Barrington, Mass., native leads the Johnnies with a .382 batting average, 13 hits and six RBIs. He also has posted a pair of doubles, a triple and a home run through nine games this season.
Raifstanger and the Red Storm will return to action tomorrow, taking on Ohio State at Bill Davis Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Columbus, Ohio.
