“The Blackout is Back” for Rutgers football’s Big Ten opener versus Iowa on Friday, Sept. 19 at SHI Stadium. The game, presented by Horizon, is set to kick off at 8 p.m. and will be televised nationally on FOX.

Fans are encouraged to wear black and be in their seats by 7:30 p.m. to see the pregame light and fireworks spectacular. The team will bring out its black uniforms and helmets.

Season ticket holders can log in to their account now to purchase single game tickets to the Blackout or any 2025 home game as part of their benefits package. Single game tickets for the general public open Tuesday, June 24.

The Rutgers Boardwalk, presented by Visit New Jersey, is set to open at 4 p.m. At halftime, stay tuned for a never-before-seen New Jersey-style Blackout performance from The Marching Scarlet Knights and Rutgers Spirit Team.

This will mark the second straight year starting Big Ten play with a home Friday game, as the Scarlet Knights defeated Washington, 21-18, in front of a crowd of 54,079 for last season’s Blackout at SHI Stadium.
